Sir Lew Grade, managing director of Associated television, ordered an investigation into claims that his company was hoaxed by two couples taking part in a programme about wife-swapping. The couples who were to appear in the programme Women Today were alleged to have told the News of the World that they fooled the company into thinking they were all married. (The original cartoon was given to Sir Max Aitken by the cartoonist.)
