Murray, Rob b. 1981
Rob Murray studied English Literature and History of Art at the University of Kent. He then spent several years as a financial journalist. In 2008, Murray started drawing cartoons for the Spectator and Private Eye. Both magazines have published hundreds of his gag cartoons; his work for Private Eye also spans comic strips, illustrations and standalone jokes. Murray is now the pocket cartoonist for The Observer. Since 2022, he has also drawn political cartoons for the Daily Telegraph.
Murray’s cartoons have also appeared in Reader’s Digest, The Oldie, The Critic, Prospect, The Daily Express, The Sun, and a wide variety of special-interest publications.
He was the regular Money cartoonist for The Sunday Times from 2014-2024, and still contributes occasional cartoons to the Business section. Between 2012 and 2018 he was the pocket cartoonist for Scotland’s Press and Journal newspaper, and was nominated three times for Cartoonist of the Year at the Scottish Press Awards.
