Chrys, George Chrystal (1916 - 1972)

Chrys was born in Aberdeen. After war service in the RAF as a pilot-instructor, he attended Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen. He later produced sporting cartoons for the Scottish Daily Mail before joining the Daily Mail as a political cartoonist and in 1960 the News of the World. He also contributed to Punch and drew regularly for Farmer & Stockbreeder and its successor British Farmer & Stockbreeder from the 1950s. His work was heavily influenced by Carl Giles.
