Knox, Jack (1910 - 1985)

John Jack Knox Jr. was a Nashville-born cartoonist and illustrator who worked for more than 40 years for Tennessee newspapers. In 1933 he worked as a cartoonist for the Evening Tennessean in Nashville. A year later, he succeeded J.P. Alley as cartoonist at the Memphis Commercial Appeal, where he worked for the next 11 years. On 1 April 1946, he joined the Nashville Banner as their political cartoonist and stayed there until he retired in 1972. In 1975, Knox began to work part time for the Chattanooga News-Free Press.
