Jensen, John (1930 - 2018)

Born in Sydney, Australia, John Jensen was the son of cartoonist Jack Gibson. Jensen took his stepfather’s name in the 1940s. He came to London and became the political cartoonist for the Sunday Telegraph between 1961-1979. He then joined Sir James Goldsmith’s new weekly magazine Now! Being the first cartoonist to produce cartoons in colour. Sadly the magazine lasted only 19 months. He was a Punch contributor from 1974, producing illustrations, jokes, sports illustrations and TV caricatures. He was a theatre caricaturist forTatler in the 1970s, as well as producing cartoons for the Spectator and for Tribune.
